Expected contribution of fruit industry to J&K economy in next 25 yrs is projected to be Rs. 60K cr by 2047: Addl Chief Secy

Jammu, Feb 5 (UNI) With the introduction of High-Density Plantation (HDP) systems and the production of quality planting material, Jammu and Kashmir is set to revolutionize its fruit industry, said Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner (Addl Chief Secretary) APD on Sunday.
He revealed that the expected economic contribution of the fruit industry to the overall economy of Jammu and Kashmir in the next 25 years is projected to be Rs. 60,000 crore per year by 2047.
He said that the Department of Horticulture Kashmir and Jammu, in collaboration with the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (ICAR-CITH), have come together to provide technological intervention for this new project.

Chandigarh, Feb 22 (UNI) Describing the Haryana police's alleged action against farmers as intolerable, Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday said the Centre must without any delay accept all demands of the protesting peasants including legalisation of MSP.
Modi government had accepted all demands in 2021, and promised fulfilment of all their demands, Sandhwan said. "Why then the farmers are being forcibly stopped from going to Delhi to raise their voice," he asked.
