Face-off between opposition and govt continues, both Houses adjourned

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) With face-off between opposition and government continuing, proceedings in both the Houses of the Parliament were disrupted for the third day in a row on Wednesday.
While opposition parties intensified efforts to corner the government over Adani issues, the ruling party remained offensive and demanded an apology from Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi over his democracy remarks in London.
Neither of the two Houses has been able to transact business meaningfully in the second leg of the Budget session that started on Monday this week.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday repeatedly asked members of the Lower House to allow the proceedings but members refused to pay any head. The members of the opposition parties stuck to their demand for setting up a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe allegations of stock manipulation by Adani group.
The treasury bench on the other hand wants Rahul Gandhi to retract his remarks made in London about 'collapse' of democracy in India under the present government.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday slammed the government for 'stopping' members of opposition parties from marching to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office and demand investigation into Adani group.
With no side relenting and uproar continuing, Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day to meet on Thursday.
Similar was the scene in Rajya Sabha also. When the House reassembled after lunch, the disruption continued. With no signs of the House getting into order, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the House for the day.
