First Vande Bharat sleeper train between Guwahati and Malda highlights Modi's commitment towards Assam: Himanta

Guwahati, Jan 17 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagging-off of India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train between Malda in West Bengal to Kamakhya in Guwahati was a reiteration of his commitment towards Assam and the Northeast.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train from Malda, as Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the flag-off ceremony virtually from Kamakhya Railway station here on Saturday.

Two more owners of the illegal rat-hole coal mine arrested in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 15 (UNI) Meghalaya police arrested two more owners of the illegal rat-hole coal mine where a dynamite blast killed 31 mine workers in Mynsngat-Thangsko area of East Jaintia Hills district, police said on Sunday.
Earnest Swer and Rangsing Syiemlieh alias Mithun were arrested on Saturday after evading police arrest in connection with the deadly coal mine blast on February 5, police said.
