Former Meghalaya Speaker quits Congress

Shillong, Nov 29 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader and former Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Abu Taher Mondal on Tuesday resigned from the primary membership of the party ahead of the assembly elections slated for early next year.
“I am resigning from the primary and active membership of the party and other posts held by me with immediate effect,” Mondal stated in his resignation letter to the state party president, Vincent H.Pala.
“Resignation is the outcome of the wish of my supporters and they will guide me on my future course of action,” Mondal, who had represented Phulbari assembly constituency till 2018, said.
