Fuel, Fertilizer Supplies Stable; 24 Indian Seafarers Safe After Oman Vessel Fire

New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) The Centre on Monday assured that India’s fertilizer, fuel and energy supplies remain stable despite the evolving geopolitical situation in West Asia, urging citizens to avoid panic buying and rely only on official information.
At an inter-ministerial briefing in the national capital, officials from the Ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Chemicals and Fertilizers reviewed the availability of fertilizers, petroleum products and maritime operations, emphasizing that adequate stocks are available across the country.
The government said fertilizer availability for the ongoing Kharif season remains comfortable. Against the reassessed Kharif 2026 requirement of 383.9 lakh metric tonnes (LMT), current stocks stand at about 197.56 LMT, or more than 51 per cent of the requirement, significantly higher than the usual stock level of around 33 per cent.
