Gross injustice to BCs in Central Budget 2023-24 : Natl BC Welfare Association

Hyderabad, Feb 5 (UNI) The National BC Welfare Association (NBCWA) in its executive Meeting held on Sunday strongly criticized the Union Government for gross injustice to BC s in Central Budget 2023-24.
Out of 45 Lakhs crores Budget, allocated only Rs 2,000 crores for BCs and how it is sufficient for 56 per cent population in the country, the Association in its meeting held under chairmanship of R Krishnaiah, pointed out.
Krishnaiah, also the Member of Parliament, strongly criticized the central government for neglecting BC by allocating major budget of majority people in the country.
Earlier when BC Associations requested for allocation of 2 lakh Crores to BCs by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Central Ministers, assurance was given but the budget allocation was not increased to BCs, said Krishnaiah..
If the allocated budget of Rs 2,000 crores is distributed among 75 crores BCs in 29 States and 7 Union Territories of our country, each State will get only Rs.50 crores. This amount will not be sufficient even for biscuits and Chocolates to 75 crore BCs. This clearly reveals the Anti BC attitude of Central Government, he said
Mandal Commission, which was constituted as per Constitution made 40 recommendations, but out of that only three recommendations in Education and Employment sectors, such as 27 per cent reservation is being implemented and National B.C. Corporation has been established. No budget has been allocated for economic related schemes, he said.
Mandal Commission has recommended Scholarships to BC students, Total fee reimbursement, special B.C. Hostels, BC Residential Schools so as to provide education to BC students. It also recommended the economic related schemes for BCs are not being implemented as per Mandal Commission recommendation which is colossal injustice to BCs, Krishnaiah said..
At least now, the Central Government has to realize and revise the budget and Rs 2 lakh Crores has to be allocated to BCs immediately. This is the demand of 75 Crores BCs throughout the country, he said.
The National Executive Meeting urged the Prime Minister to revise budget for OBC to 2 lakh Crores besides other schemes including Pre-Matric and Post- Matric scholarship schemes and fees Reimbursement schemes have to be introduced to BC students on the lines of SC / ST students; 80 percent matching grant has to be provided for construction of Buildings for Hostels and Residential Schools being run by State Government; 80 percent subsidy loans have to be provided to BCs through National B.C. Corporation. For this Rs 50,000 crores has to be allocated and all schemes being implemented for SC / STs at Central level have to be extended to OBCs.
