Himachal: Forest land eviction drive continues: 2,541 apple and pear trees axed in four days

Shimla, July 15 (UNI) The ongoing eviction drive in Himachal Pradesh’s Kotkhai region intensified further today, with the Special Operation Procedure (SOP) team felling 381 apple and pear trees in Village Chaithla of Gram Panchayat Pandali.
The action is being carried out under judicial monitoring in accordance with the Himachal Pradesh High Court’s July 2 directive to clear all illegal apple orchards planted on encroached forest land.
Today’s operation targeted the orchards of Madan Gopal, Kusum, Jagatram, Pradeep, Devkanya, Pramod, Naresh Tajta, and Mastram, who were found to have illegally planted trees on government forest land. Officials said that the tree removal process was completed by 4:55 PM. As in previous days, the law and order situation remained peaceful.
