HP to consider five-fold increase in subsidy for procuring Pea seed

Shimla, Aug 27 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh would soon consider the demand to provide increase in subsidy to procure seed pea for Lahaul Spiti districts where farmers are engaged in monocropping of green pea for almost half-a-year.
Agriculture Minister Sujan Singh assured legislator of Lahaul Spiti Ravi Thakur on his query on the matter during Question Hour today that state government would work with different agencies involved in procuring the pea seeds to hike its subsidy from 50 per cent to five times.
Earlier, demanding attention on the issue a member of Assembly said production of pea was affecting the economy of snowbound districts as farmers were not able to get seeds due to price rise. He said seeds of Pea were being available in the market at the rate 10,000 per quintal .
