Srinagar, Jun 4 (UNI) National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said that if needed the opposition parties will form an alliance to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party in elections.
“If necessary, we will form an alliance to keep away those who practice religious politics and divide people on certain issues” Farooq said while talking to media persons in Srinagar on Sunday.
“They have to be pushed and knocked down”, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said.
He said there is democracy when there is an elected government ..without election there is loss of people.
“One Lieutenant Governor and his advisors could not run the whole state. Every constituency is having one Member of Legislative Assembly member who is looking after and redressing the issues of the public”, he said.
The Member Parliament said the bureaucracy has not worried about that as they are not retired till the age of 60 while as an MLA has to seek re-election after every five years to prove his ability.
Farooq said the elections should happen here so that a democratic government could form.
Without an elected government that causes tremendous loss to the state, he said.
In a question whether the recently held G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Kashmir would have any positive effect on the economy, Farooq said that roads were macadamized, lights started to illuminate and walls were painted, which gave us benefit without any doubt.
“Will our tourism benefit from it is a big question",Farooq said and added "the foreign tourists will never visit here until the situation really is well”.
He said the situation will never be good unless the two neighbouring countries India-Pakistan sit and hold talks to decide the future of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Farooq congratulated PDP President Mehbooba Mufti for getting a passport. God willing she could utilize it as she was supposed to perform Umrah, he added.
