India all-rounder & young guns make their move in T20I rankings

India all-rounder & young guns make their move in T20I rankings

Dubai, Feb 8 (UNI) Three standouts in India’s recent thumping of New Zealand have reaped the rewards in the ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings while England’s ODI stars have also surged higher.
India star Hardik Pandya is within reach of top spot in the All-Rounder Rankings after ripping through the New Zealand top-order in their series decider last week.
Pandya has leaped over Mohammad Nabi into second spot in the T20I All-Rounder Rankings after taking the new ball and claiming 4/16 from four overs against New Zealand in Motera.
The India captain on the day had earlier blasted 30 runs from 17 balls, then helped ensure a commanding victory when dismissing New Zealand batters Finn Allen and Glenn Phillips in his opening two overs.
Pandya is now on a personal high 250 all-rounder ranking points, only two points behind Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan for top spot.
Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh also grabbed two early wickets as New Zealand were left reeling at 7/4 in just the third over.
The 24-year-old finished with 2/16 and has now risen eight spots in the T20I Bowling Rankings to 13th.
Emerging India opener Shubman Gill was the big mover after carrying his bat through the innings for a stunning 126 not out from 63 balls against New Zealand.
The 23-year-old Gill has surged a whopping 168 places from outside the top 100 in the T20I Batting Rankings to equal-30th after playing only six T20Is.
India’s Suryakumar Yadav holds onto top spot among the batters, while Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan remains the No.1 ranked bowler.
Heavy scoring in the recent clash between England and South Africa have also impacted the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings - as has a rare six-for from a revitalised speedster.
Jos Buttler’s 131 in a total of 346/7 has pushed him six spots higher to equal-20th in the ODI Batting Rankings.
Dawid Malan shared a 232-run partnership with the England skipper, and after reaching his third ODI ton in that match against South Africa now rises 31 places to 58th in the rankings.
But arguably the brightest spark from the match was Jofra Archer re-announcing himself after coming back from injury to claim 6/40 in 9.1 overs.
The electrifying England quick played his first ODIs since 2020 in the series against South Africa, but after his best figures in the format leaps 13 spots to 22nd in the ODI Bowling Rankings.
Heinrich Klaasen led the chase against England with 80 from 62 balls, and now rises 11 places to 42nd in the ODI Batting Rankings, but could not prevent South Africa falling 59 runs short.
Pakistan's Babar Azam is still the No.1 ranked ODI batter, with India's Mohammed Siraj the top bowler.
