India bets on homegrown Project Kusha to strengthen long-range air defence shield

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) India’s ambitious effort to build a homegrown long-range air defence shield moved back into focus after Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal A K Bharti recently referred to an indigenous system under development during the annual briefing on Operation Sindoor, signalling that New Delhi is accelerating plans to reduce dependence on imported strategic weapons platforms.
During the interaction, Air Marshal Bharti, while responding to a question on how India is preparing for evolving missile threats from Pakistan and China, said the armed forces were continuously upgrading their capabilities and pointed to both imported and indigenous systems currently in the pipeline.
