India’s macroeconomic stability and corporate earnings to remain intact, says Anand Rathi

Chennai, Sept 3 (UNI) Despite the steep hike in the import duty by the US on goods from India, the latter’s macroeconomic stability and the corporate earnings will be largely intact, said Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers Ltd.
In a research report, the Anand Rathi Share said, despite the escalating global trade tensions, the threat of steep hike in US import duties on Indian goods, India’s diversified exports, rising domestic demand, and institutional investor base leave its macroeconomic stability and corporate earnings largely intact.
The fallout from high import duty on Indian goods by the US may dent growth and employment modestly, but the long term India equity story remains firmly on track, Anand Rathi said. The 50% US import duty would trim India’s gross domestic product (GDP) and exports by about 50 basis points and cut Nifty 500 earnings by 1–2 %, the company said.
