Indian dance group Desi Hoppers becomes first Indian crew to win World of Dance championship

 New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) Putting a feather in India's cap, dance troupe 'Desi Hoppers' have become the first ever Indian crew to win the World of Dance championship in Los Angeles.        

Desi Hoppers, who came into the limelight through 'Bindass Naach', the popular show on Bindaas channel, competed against more than 40 countries to win the international dance championship at the US, officials at the Bindaas channel said today.

  The crew, led by young dancers Shantanu Maheshwari, Macedon Dmello and Nimit Kotian, created history yesterday by winning the mecca of dance championship World of Dance.

The Indian crew not only impressed the judges, but also the live audiences as well and won the 'Crowd Favourite' title as well.

  

The first ever Indian troupe to represent the country at the World of Dance championship, Desi Hoppers competed 34 performances in the finals.

Bindaas officials said judges were impressed with their energy and unique dance moves, which had a mix of Indian dance moves seamlessly merged with international dance styles to give their performance an edge.

        

Immediately after winning the prestigious dance competition, the trio said, ''t this point, it is difficult to explain our feeling in words, but definitely it is a proud moment for not just us, but for the entire country. Bindass Naach started as a dream and we never thought that we will reach this far.

''There couldn’t be a better timing to win the WOD the very next day to our Independence Day. This is our tribute to the country. We hope that this win will inspire many young Indians and give them a message that if you have the courage to dream, you can achieve them too.''

  

Commenting on the extraordinary feet achieved by the Bindass Naach crew, Vijay Subramaniam, Vice President of Content and Communication, Media Networks - Disney India, said ''I would like to congratulate the entire crew for this rare achievement. We never treated 'NAACH' as just another show, it's more of a philosophy that is centered around a dream of three boys (Shantanu, Nimit and Macedon).

''We are feeling ecstatic and proud to be part of their dream. This is not just another win, but an achievement that would open a window of opportunities for young India.''

        

The Bindass Naach journey began, when Shantanu, Macedon and Nimit went auditioning all over the country in the search of perfect dancers. With more than three months of intense training, they have created a strong team and won the World of Dance championship, the officials added.

This entire journey of their hard work, dedication and perseverance has been captured by Bindass on the show 'Bindaas Naach', which is being aired  from yesterday every week on Sunday at 1900 hrs, they said.
