New Delhi/Vientiane, May 26 (UNI) The Indian Embassy in Laos has rescued and repatriated 13 Indians who were duped into working for fake job rackets that forced them to act as cyber criminals. With this, 428 Indians have been rescued so far from Laos, the embassy said, and warned Indians against getting duped by such job rackets.
The Indian Embassy posted on X:
“In our continued work to ensure safety & well-being of Indians as matter of top priority, Embassy successfully rescues and repatriates 13 Indians, including seven Odiya workers from a wood factory in Attapeu province, and six Indian youth from Golden Triangle SEZ, Bokeo province of Laos .”
"So far, Embassy has rescued 428 Indians from Lao PDR. We thank Lao authorities for their cooperation.

The Laos operation comes two days after a similar one in Cambodia where the Indian Embassy repatriated a group of 60 Indian nationals rescued from Sihanoukville by Cambodian authorities, following the rescue operation conducted on May 20.
The Indian Embassy posted on X: ”Always committed to helping Indians abroad.
“First batch of 60 Indian nationals rescued by Indian Embassy in Cambodia from fraudulent employers return home. Thank the Cambodian authorities for their support.”
This initiative follows a significant rescue operation conducted on May 20, said the Embassy in a statement released on Wednesday.
