InMobi bets big on Lucknow: 500 local tech hires to power global AI innovation

Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) In a move set to redefine Uttar Pradesh’s technology landscape, InMobi, a global leader in AI-powered technology, has established a new technology centre in Lucknow.
The facility will serve as a deep-tech hub in North India, focusing on innovations in Generative AI, MLOps, automation, and large-scale AI infrastructure, while creating thousands of jobs in the region.

The company plans to hire around 500 engineers, product specialists, and data scientists over the next few years for the Lucknow centre. Notably, these professionals will be recruited from Lucknow and surrounding districts, with candidates expected to be graduates of technical colleges and universities in the region.
This expansion is projected to generate over 3,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing significantly to the state’s economy. The initiative aligns with the Uttar Pradesh government’s goal of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2029, positioning Lucknow as a rising hub for AI and innovation.

“At InMobi, we’ve always believed that great talent isn’t confined to geography, it’s driven by mindset, ambition, and opportunity,” said Mohit Saxena, co-founder and Group CTO, InMobi and Glance here on Wednesday.
“Over the past two decades, we’ve built world-class engineering teams out of Bangalore and San Francisco, two of the most respected tech hubs globally. Now, we’re adding Lucknow to this league. It marks the beginning of a long-term movement to build a vibrant deep-tech ecosystem beyond the traditional metros. By investing in local talent, collaborating with academia, and building cutting-edge products for global markets from the heart of Uttar Pradesh, we are reshaping the innovation map of Bharat— and this is just the beginning,” he added.

Addressing concerns about job losses due to artificial intelligence, Saxena dismissed recent claims of large-scale layoffs in top companies linked to AI adoption.
He stated that “AI has not been introduced now —it was there in India from earlier,” stressing that the technology, when implemented thoughtfully, creates new opportunities rather than eliminating them.

Lucknow’s proximity to top institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIIT Lucknow, IIM Lucknow, and MNNIT Allahabad provides a strong talent pipeline for the centre.
InMobi intends to collaborate with local universities to offer hands-on product training, internships, and upskilling programmes tailored to industry needs, aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world innovation.

“Our presence in Lucknow is a testament to our belief that talent exists everywhere — and it’s our responsibility to nurture it,” said Shefali Rai, Chief Human Resources Officer at InMobi and Glance.
“Our goal is to create a workplace where people don’t have to leave their hometowns to build cutting-edge global products. By bringing InMobi’s high-performance culture, inclusive ethos, and deep-tech opportunities to emerging talent hubs, we’re enabling careers that are rooted locally but built for the world.”

The Lucknow office forms part of InMobi’s broader innovation roadmap and follows the company’s $200 million AI investment announced earlier this year. This includes the launch of Glance AI, a next-generation AI commerce platform that integrates fashion, entertainment, shopping, and content to deliver personalised digital experiences.

By decentralising its R&D footprint, InMobi aims to accelerate product innovation, foster inclusive growth, and strengthen India’s global standing in AI and deep-tech. With Lucknow now part of its global innovation network, the company is positioning the city as a strategic centre for technology development that serves markets around the world.
