IPL 2026: KKR brace for must-win contest against MI

Kolkata, May 19(UNI) With their IPL 2026 playoff hopes hanging by the slimmest of threads, three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders face a must-win situation when they host already-eliminated Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens here on Wednesday.
KKR have managed to keep themselves alive with a strong late-season revival, but the margin for error is now completely gone. Even if they beat Mumbai Indians, their qualification chances will still depend heavily on other results going their way.
Ajinkya Rahane’s side currently remains outside the top four and could still miss out even after winning their remaining matches. Punjab Kings’ upcoming game against Lucknow Super Giants will play a major role in deciding KKR’s fate. If Punjab win, Kolkata’s final league game against Delhi Capitals could become a dead rubber.
