Iran FM Araghchi claims UAE blocked joint BRICS statement on West Asia due to ties with Israel

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi today claimed that the UAE "blocked" a joint statement by BRICS nations on the situation in West Asia due to its ties with Israel.
Araghchi did not offer details on what the BRICS statement was going to be, and what exactly was the content the UAE opposed, but without referring to it by name said, "The final statement by the BRICS ministerial meeting was blocked — or some parts of that were blocked — by a member State that has its own special relations with Israel, and this is very unfortunate."
BRICS member states include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, the UAE and Indonesia.
