ITF Juniors Grade 2 Tennis top two seeds fall flat on inaugural day

Kolkata, Jan 18 (UNI) Top 2 seeds in the Boys Singles Qualifying draw fell flat on the opening day of the Central Excise & CGST ITF Junior J200 World Ranking Tennis Championship 2025, being held at the Bengal Tennis Association Complex here on Saturday.
Unseeded Vraj Gohil of India took a little over 2 hours to drub Samarth Sahita, also from India and seeded 1 in the Boys Singles Qualifying draw as the former entered the final qualifying rounds by a close 6-3,0-6,10-6 win. Gohita will face Kazakhstan's Artem Sidorov, seeded 6 in the final qualify on Sunday.
India's Akilandeshwari K Mahalingam created the second major upset of the day as he breezed past second-seeded Maximus Zavier Wong of Singapore by a humiliating 6-2,6-0 victory.
