New Delhi, Mar 19(UNI) Contrary to popular perception, fragrances offer multiple uses for us, they are not merely for being used as perfumes but these can be used for therapeutic reasons, these are used in food as taste enhancers and some are also used in Astrology.
The Itra & Sugandhi Festival that was held at Sunder Nursery in Nizammuddin from March 17 to March 19 and organized by Delhi Tourism in collaboration with Fragrance and Flavor Development Center, Kannauj and Rohit Seth, President of Sugandh Vyapar Sangathan fascinated the visitors with the sheer variety of fragrances that are used across the country and the multiple uses these can be put to.
Atindra Mishra from the Balram & Company Perfumes explained the multiple uses fragrances are put to “Fragrances are available in the forms of Jal, Itra and rooh and they have multiple uses, apart from emanating pleasant aromas, they are used in medicines, they are used in food for enhancing taste. For example Khas has a lot of medicinal value, especially anti oxidant properties; it is in big demand from Pharma companies it also has cooling properties so it is used during summers to keep the body cool. Similarly Kewra also has medicinal properties and is used in food particularly sweets like in Boondi ladoos and biriyani it works as a taste enhancer.”
