J&K: DYSS orders Inter-Zonal District Level, Inter-District competitions on League-cum-Knock out basis for fair selection

Jammu, June 11 (UNI) Expressing that the the knock-out format of tournaments restricts talented players from demonstrating true potential, Jammu and Kashmir Department of Youth Services and Sports has ordered the conduct of Inter-Zonal District Level and Inter-District competitions on League-cum-Knock Out basis for fair selection of athletes for various national level competitions.
In a circular issued by the Director General, J&K DYSS, stated that it has been observed that during the selection process of team games at the District Level competitions, many deserving players do not get adequate opportunity to exhibit their skill and performance for selection to higher-level competitions.
"In several cases, the knock-out format of tournaments results in elimination of teams after a single match, thereby restricting talented players from demonstrating their true potential owing to temporary performance constraints or limited match exposure," read a circular.
