J&K: Landslide blocks Larnoo–Murgon top road; all stranded evacuated safely

Srinagar, Aug 15 (UNI) A landslide struck the Larnoo–Murgon Top area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district late last night, leaving nearly 30 vehicles stranded, officials said.

According to officials, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Rescue Team Anantnag, assisted by local police and the civil administration, launched a swift rescue operation soon after the incident.

“All passengers and drivers trapped due to the landslide were safely evacuated. There has been no report of loss of life or damage to property,” an official said.
The rescue operation, which continued during the night under challenging conditions, was successfully concluded by morning.
On Friday, cloudbursts and flash floods were reported across several districts of Kashmir, including Ganderbal, Anantnag, and Kupwara. Officials said that no fatalities or injuries have been reported so far.

In view of the adverse weather advisory, the administration in several districts have set up dedicated emergency helpline numbers to ensure timely assistance and enable swift response to any distress calls or weather-related disruptions.
