J&K Police freezes bank accounts of drug smugglers in Poonch

Jammu, Nov 15 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police in furtherance of financial investigation in narcotics smuggling have freezed dozens of bank accounts involved in drugs trade in the Poonch district.
The action comes as part of an intensified crackdown on narcotics networks operating in the region, aimed at disrupting their financial lifelines and curbing the flow of illegal funds.
The police spokesman here said that during financial investigations many accounts under scrutiny were found to have unusually high-volume transactions that raised suspicion during financial surveillance and monitoring. "These accounts were allegedly used to route proceeds from the sale and distribution of narcotics across multiple districts," he said adding that by freezing them, authorities have effectively prevented the accused from withdrawing or diverting money that could have been used to further fuel illegal activities.

Victim's parents move SC against acquittal or computation of death sentence

Shimla, Dec 12 (UNI) The family of four-year-old murder victim Yug Gupta has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Himachal Pradesh High Court’s September 23 judgment that commuted the death sentences of two convicts and acquitted the third.
Family sources told UNI that Yug’s father, Vinod Gupta, has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the apex court, which has been accepted for hearing.
