Japanese Encephalitis detected in an Arunachal village

Itanagar, Aug 13 (UNI) A case of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) has been confirmed in Longnaksi village under Kanubari circle in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district following joint disease surveillance by veterinary officials.
Blood samples from pigs, collected by Dr Tilling Tayo, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (ACTO) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longding, in collaboration with Dr Navjeevan Talo, Disease Investigation Laboratories Officer (Western Zone), were sent to the Department of Microbiology, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Guwahati.
Laboratory results confirmed the presence of JE virus in a pig sample from the village, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK Longding, UK Bhattacharyya said.
