Jarange Patil’s statement immature: OBC leader Babanrao Taiwade

Jalna, Oct 7 (UNI) OBC leader Babanrao Taiwade today criticised activist Manoj Jarange Patil for his recent statement suggesting that if hurdles were created in granting reservation to the Maratha community, the 1994 OBC reservation would be challenged in court. Taiwade termed the remark as “immature.”
He said that the reservation granted to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in 1994 came after a prolonged struggle. “The reservation that should have been implemented in 1952 was finally secured following the Mandal Commission’s report. Based on that report, the court granted 27 percent reservation to the 52 percent OBC population,” Taiwade explained.
Referring to Jarange Patil’s comments about an alleged secret meeting between Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar and Minister Chhagan Bhujbal regarding the leadership of the OBC reservation protection movement, Taiwade said such statements were made only to please the Maratha community.
