JK: Militant killed in Sopore gunbattle

Srinagar, Nov 9 (UNI) Security forces shot dead an unidentified militant in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore sub district, officials said on Saturday.

The second encounter in Sopore since Friday, broke out at Rampora Sopore during a cordon and a search operation which was being carried out by joint forces in the area.


“As the cordon was being laid by, the hiding terrorists opened fire which retaliated triggering a gunbattle. In the operation one terrorist has been killed,” a security official said. “ The operation is underway.”
The identity and group affiliation of slain militant could not be ascertained immediately.

On Friday, security forces shot dead two unidentified militants in an encounter at Panipora Sopore.
