John Hanna to star in new detective series ‘Death in Benidorm’

Los Angeles, Oct 14 (UNI) Actor John Hanna is set to headline a new detective drama, titled Death in Benidorm, currently a working title, Variety reported.
The series, produced by Blackbox Multimedia and Clapperboard, follows Dennis, a former detective, seeking a quieter life running a bar in Benidorm.
However, when tourists start dying mysteriously, he is reluctantly pulled back into detective work, encouraged by his barmaid Rosa, a die-hard crime drama fan.
The show’s synopsis explains that Dennis’ real-world detective experience, combined with Rosa’s encyclopedic knowledge of crime TV, helps the duo solve a new murder in each episode while staying on the right side of local Spanish authorities.
Carolina Becquer plays Rosa, with Ariadna Cabrol as Maria and Damian Schedler Cruz as Jesus completing the main cast.
Commissioned by Greg Barnett, commissioning editor at Channel 5, Death in Benidorm is co-produced by Blackbox Multimedia (The Ex-Wife, The Serial Killer's Wife, This Time Next Year) and Clapperboard (The Teacher, The Game, The Madame Blanc Mysteries), with ZDF Studios serving as international distributor.
The show appears to take inspiration from the long-running BBC series Death in Paradise. UNI MI SS
