Kamada stuns Dutch with late equaliser as Japan fight back twice

Arlington (USA), June 15 (UNI) Japan produced a late surge to hold the Netherlands to a dramatic 2-2 draw in a pulsating World Cup encounter at AT&T Stadium on early Monday IST as Daichi Kamada’s 89th-minute equaliser ensured a share of the spoils in a match that swung violently from end to end.
In a game that saw momentum shift repeatedly, the Netherlands twice went ahead but were denied maximum points by Japan’s relentless fightback and a stoppage-time push that left the Dutch defence hanging on.
The Dutch, who fielded a strong attacking unit, broke the deadlock in the 51st minute when captain Virgil van Dijk powered in a set-piece header to give them a 1-0 lead.
