Karthik, Shilpa emerge champions at 6th AITA Tabebuia Open

Bengaluru, Mar 18 (UNI) The top seeds K Karthik of Tamil Nadu and Shilpa KP of Karnataka emerged as the champions in the men’s and women’s singles respectively of the 6th AITA Tabebuia Open Wheelchair Tennis tournament which concluded at the Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence here on Friday.
While Karthik recorded an easy 6-1, 6-3 victory over second seed Shekar Veeraswamy of Karnataka, Shilpa faced stiff resistance from her statemate Prathima Rao in the first set before blanking her opponent in the second to wrest the title.
Later, Shekar Veeraswamy and S Balachander of Tamil Nadu defeated the top seeded duo from Tamil Nadu - Karthik and Mariyappan D (TN) to lift the men’s doubles title.
