Kerala issues strict curbs for Diwali: Only green crackers, 2-hour limit

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16 (UNI) The Kerala Home Department has directed that the guidelines issued in accordance with the order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) regarding the use of firecrackers and related explosives during Diwali celebrations must be strictly adhered to.
The directive states that only green category firecrackers will be permitted for use. The bursting of crackers should be restricted to a period of two hours — from 8 pm to 10 pm.
The department emphasized that these restrictions are based on environmental considerations and are intended to control air and noise pollution during the festival.
