Kick the Door remark stirs humour in Assembly

Belagavi, Dec 12 (UNI) A light-hearted moment in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Thursday turned into an unexpected political spectacle when Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s candid recounting of his rise to a ministerial post in 1999 led to playful jabs about his future ambitions.
During a tribute to former Chief Minister SM Krishna, Shivakumar reflected on the tumultuous events of 1999, when, despite being a trusted lieutenant of Krishna, he found himself left off the initial list of ministers approved by the Congress high command. The night before the swearing-in ceremony, after realising he had been excluded, Shivakumar revealed that he took drastic action.
"I literally barged into Krishna’s residence and kicked the door," Shivakumar quipped, adding that despite Krishna and his family trying to persuade him to wait for a later induction, he stood his ground. "I told them, you cannot go ahead with the swearing-in without inducting me," he declared. After a tense standoff, Krishna finally convinced the party leadership to include him in the Cabinet.
