Kidnapping accused found dead in Nagpur police custody

Nagpur, Jan 22 (UNI) A youth arrested for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl was found dead while in police custody in Nagpur, officials said on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Manojkumar Ramji Bhatia (19), was arrested in Uttar Pradesh in connection with a kidnapping case registered at Jaripatka police station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
He was brought to Nagpur and produced before a local court on Wednesday, which remanded him to police custody for two days.

Bombay High Court grants bail to 2011 Mumbai blasts accused

Mumbai, Feb 10 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to an accused in the 2011 Mumbai triple blasts case while agreeing with the defence contention of prolonged incarceration and delayed trial as reasons for the relief.
While granting bail to accused Nadim Akhtar Shaikh, 14 years after he was arrested in the 2011 Mumbai triple blasts case, the division bench of Justices Ajey S Gadkari and Shyam C Chandak directed him to furnish a bond of Rs 1 lakh with one or more sureties of the same amount.

Aaditya Thackeray slams BJP proposal of Congestion Tax for Mumbai

Mumbai Feb 10 (UNI) Sena UBT leader, Aditya Thackeray on Tuesday slammed BJP proposal to impose a 'congestion tax' on single-occupant vehicles in Mumbai's high-traffic zones, saying the ruling party only think of looting people and not giving anything back for the city.
In a social media post reacting on BJP corporator Makarand Narwekar's proposal, UBT leader called it an attempt to "loot" Mumbai, questioning if citizens would be compensated for broken roads, reduced BEST buses, and worsening air quality.

Mumbai Feb 10 (UNI) Sunetra Pawar on Tuesday officially assumed charge of her office at Mantralaya in Mumbai as the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, becoming the first woman to hold this position. She was sworn in on January 31, following the tragic death of her husband, Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash on January 28.
