Leaders demand constitutional amendment, legal clarity for local body reservations at Nyaya Sadhana Deeksha

Hyderabad, Nov 16 (UNI) Leaders from various political parties and BC organisations came together at Indira Park today for the Nyaya Sadhana Deeksha, demanding that local body elections be conducted strictly in accordance with constitutional provisions and that BC reservations be legally protected.
The deeksha, led by Telangana BC JAC Chairman MP R Krishnaiah, saw thousands participating. Former BC Commission Chairman Vaklabharanam Krishnamohan presided over the programme. Leaders from multiple parties, 45 BC caste associations, 39 BC organisations, as well as central and state OBC employee associations, extended their support.
Krishnaiah asserted that BC reservations in local bodies are constitutionally valid and said the ongoing case in the High Court would be won on strong legal grounds. He criticised the reported move to hold elections with party-based reservations, calling it “deeply unfair,” and warned the government against reversing earlier promises. He urged authorities to wait for the court verdict instead of “rushing into elections” and risking injustice to BC communities.
