Learning Punjabi was a joy for me: Sonal Chauhan

Mumbai, May 14 (UNI) Actress Sonal Chauhan has described her experience of learning Punjabi for her upcoming film "Shera" as both enriching and emotionally fulfilling.
The family drama, which also stars Parmish Verma, is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 15, 2026.
Chauhan, who is making her debut in Punjabi cinema through this film, said that acting in Punjabi language has been a very enjoyable and enriching experience for her, especially because she already has a deep love for this language, music and culture.
Expressing her happiness, the 38-year-old actress elaborated, "I have fallen in love with Punjab. I have always loved the Punjabi language and 'Shera' was a great opportunity for me to learn Punjabi and understand it better. I have always listened to Punjabi music and I find a unique joy in the language. Parmish has been a wonderful co-star and he always helped me improve my dialogue delivery, which proved to be very helpful during the shoot. I can speak a little Punjabi now, but I hope to master it completely by my next Punjabi film."
Chauhan also explained, "Besides, I also feel a strong connection to Punjabi culture, and after spending time here, my love for it has only grown. I've had the opportunity to explore this beautiful culture closely and understand the beautiful principles of Gurbani, such as Hukam, Seva, and Langar. The more I delve into these principles, the more I understand the meaning and significance behind them, which is truly beautiful."
Chauhan also expressed gratitude for the love and support she received on set. She thanked her co-star Verma and director Savio Sandhu for their immense help in improving her pronunciation and dialogue delivery during filming. She also thanked producer Anmol Sahani for making her Punjabi debut a very smooth and enjoyable experience.
