Kolhapur / Ratnagiri, Feb 5 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde asserted on Sunday that the state government will set up Konkan Folk Art Corporation for rejuvenation of Konkan areas.
Inaugurating a four-day Folk Art Mahostav at Shreejuna Kalbhairav ground in Chiplun of Ratnagiri district online, he said that owing to a tradition of rich folk arts in Konkan area, there are ample opportunities for tourism and against this backdrop, the state government has decided to set up Konkan Folks Arts Corporation in Konkan which will give boost to tourism after preparation of greenfield road from Mumbai to Sindhudurg.
Earlier, CM Shinde unveiled oil paintings of late social leaders, including Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe.
State industry minister and Ratnagiri district guardian minister Uday Samant, Coordination'committee president Tanaji Vhirge, Prakash Deshpande, MLAs Shekhar Nikam, Prasad Lad, Yogesh Kadam, former MLA Sadanand Chavan, Ratnagiri district collector M Devendra Sinh, Ratnagiri DSP Dhananjay Kulkarni and others were present at function.
