Main accused in Pansare murder case Sameer Gaikwad dies in Sangli

Sangli (Maharashtra) Jan 20 (UNI) Main accused in senior Communist Party leader Govind Pansare murder case, Sameer Gaikwad (43) died in Sangli due to cardiac arrest.
Sameer Gaikwad was out on bail for some time and was staying with his family in Vikas Chowk area of Sangli. Around midnight on Monday, he experienced chest pain and taken to the Sangli Civil Hospital for treatment. However, in the morning, doctors declared him dead as he did not respond to treatment.
Gaikwad was the prime suspect in the shooting of Govind Pansare and his wife Uma Pansare in Kolhapur on February 16, 2015. He was arrested from Sangli on September 16, 2015, seven months after Pansare's murder. The police had seized several mobile SIM cards from him. However, he was granted conditional bail in 2017 due to some technical reasons and lack of evidence.
