Malegaon blast victims challenge acquittal in Bombay High Court

Mumbai, Sep 9 (UNI) More than a month after all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts case were acquitted, the victims have challenged the decision in the Bombay High Court today.
The appeal was filed by victims Nisar Ahmed Haji Syed Bilal, Sheikh Liaquat Mohiuddin, Sheikh Ishaq Sheikh Yousaf, Usman Khan Ainullah Khan, Mushtaq Shah Haroon Shah, and Sheikh Ibrahim Sheikh. They were represented by the Jamiat Ulema Maharashtra (Arshad Madani) Legal Aid Committee, which had been assisting the victims in the case.
In their appeal, the victims urged the court to set aside the order passed by the NIA court, alleging that it had not considered the depositions of ATS witnesses. They also claimed that the prosecution had suppressed vital facts and asked the high court to exercise its power to recall witnesses and record their fresh statements.
