Mamata Banerjee mourns death of Ratan Tata

Kolkata, Oct 10 (UNI) West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed her sadness at the demise of iconic industrialist Ratan Tata, chairman Emeritus of the Tata Sons.
"The former Chairman of Tata Group had been a foremost leader of Indian industries and a public-spirited philanthropist," Banerjee posted on her X handle.



"His demise will be an irreparable loss for the Indian business world and society. My condolences to all his family members and colleagues," she concluded.





In a separate message, Union minister Sukanta Majumdar expressed his sadness at the passing away of the octogenarian industrialist, who was quite active before his death at 86 in Mumbai last night. " Deeply saddened by the passing away of Shri Ratan Tata. A beacon of integrity, ethical leadership, and philanthropy, he left an indelible mark on the world of business and beyond. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti said Majumdar, who is also the BJP's Bengal unit president.





Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said he was deeply saddened to learn that Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of one of India's biggest conglomerates, Tata Sons, has passed away.






" Probably one of the brightest stars of the Indian industrial landscape, he not only enhanced his company's reputation across the world but also made sure that our country is recognised as an economic superpower," the Nandigram legislator said on his X handle.





" His philanthropic activities set him apart from his peers. The true titan of the business world and the great visionary will be missed dearly by every Indian. He's a true son of Bharat. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti," Adhikari concluded. UNI PC AKS
