Mizoram bypoll records impressive voter turnout amid peaceful polling

Aizawl, Nov 11(UNI) The bye-election to Mizoram’s Dampa assembly constituency in Mamit district bordering Bangladesh witnessed an impressive turnout on Tuesday, with 83 percent of the 20,790 registered voters exercising their franchise.
Officials said the final polling percentage may increase once figures from Marpara North, where voting continued late into the evening, are received.
The constituency has 10,605 male and 10,185 female voters. Polling began at 7 a.m. and saw enthusiastic participation across all 41 polling stations.

Five Indian fishermen go missing in Bay of Bengal after trawler is hit by Bangladeshi vessel

Kolkata, Dec 15 (UNI) The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) began an intensive search operation in the Bay of Bengal for five Indian fishermen who went missing after their trawler capsized when it was allegedly slammed by a Bangladeshi vessel in the early hours of Monday, sources at Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas said.
