Movie on anti-Sikh riots to release in theatres on October 7

New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) A movie based on the events, which occurred in the aftermath of the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, will release in theatres across the country on October 7. Directed by National award winning filmmaker Shivaji Lotan Patil, '31st October', featuring Soha Ali Khan and Vir Das, is a depiction of events in the aftermath of Ms Gandhi’s assassination, which affected millions in India and abroad. The flick is based on a true story ​of a Sikh family and their journey against all odds for survival. Announcing the release date of the film, Writer-producer Harry Sachdeva and co-producer Anand Prakash​ said, 'We are​ proud to bring this subject on the big screen and we are​ glad that after crossing all the hurdles, our​ film '31st October' will be released worldwide on October 7.' Talking about the flick, which is to be released worldwide by Panorama Studios, Director Shivaji said, 'it was a great opportunity for me to direct this subject. It’s the first film ever on the aftermath of Indira Gandhi's assassination and it's a film for the world audience'. According to Kumar Mangat, Chairman of Panorama Studios, 'Panorama Studios is proud to be associated with the film 31st October. The flick has a global appeal and is a must watch human interest story, especially for the youth. I appreciate the efforts of the filmmaker to attempt such a bold and a brilliant subject and bring it to the big screen'.
