MTOA and MTDA calls off strike

Aizawl, Jan 24 (UNI) A strike called by the Mizoram Truck Owners’ Association (MTOA) and the Mizoram Truck Drivers’ Association (MTDA) protesting against poor road conditions along National Highway-306 was called off late Friday afternoon after two days of disruption.
The strike, which had begun on Thursday morning, ended at 6:30 PM after the state government accelerated repair work on the highway.
MTOA General Secretary Dina Tlau acknowledged the government’s swift action, particularly on the most hazardous stretch between Kawnpui and Khamrang in Kolasib district, which borders Assam’s Cachar district. “We saw repair teams working tirelessly, filling deep potholes, and addressing the worst-affected areas,” Tlau stated. “The PWD has assured us that the most critical sections will be fully repaired by February 15.”
