Bengaluru, Aug 13 (UNI) A fresh complaint was filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday in connection with the ongoing Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam.
The complaint, lodged with Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, alleged illegal activities involving the Chief Minister and his family.
Social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed the complaint accusing Siddaramaiah of misusing his position to illegally obtain valuable land through a deed of relinquishment.
The complaint specifically targets the allocation of 14 prime sites in Mysuru to Siddaramaiah’s wife B M Parvathi, following the submission of a relinquishment letter in the Governor’s name.
According to the complaint, the letter, dated November 25, 2021, pertains to 3.16 acres of land in Kesare village of Mysuru district. The land is currently at the center of the MUDA scam controversy.
The activist argued that the allotment of these sites violates government regulations, as outlined in a circular issued by the Karnataka Urban Development Department on September 30, 2020. This circular provided guidelines for the transfer of agricultural land to the government, requiring specific procedures that were allegedly bypassed in this case.
Snehamayi Krishna has demanded the cancellation of all relinquishment letters registered under similar circumstances, urging the Governor to direct the Chief Secretary to take immediate action. The complaint also calls for the dismissal of the First Division Clerk (FDC) involved in the registration of the letter and other MUDA officials implicated in the case.
“The violation of government rules is clear. The land was transferred in the name of the Governor without following the proper legal procedures,” said Snehamayi Krishna. “This illegal activity, done in the Governor’s name, must be addressed immediately to prevent further misuse of power.”
This complaint is the third of its kind against Siddaramaiah. Two previous complaints have alleged direct involvement of the Chief Minister in similar illegal activities. In the current case, while the direct involvement is not alleged, the fact that the signatory is his wife raises serious concerns about the misuse of power at the highest levels of the state government.
The Governor’s office has acknowledged receipt of the complaint, but there has been no official response from the Chief Minister or his office so far. As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken in response to these serious allegations.
