Mukhiya caught taking Rs 1.20 Lakh bribe in Samastipur

Patna, June 10 (UNI) The Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau on Wednesday arrested a Mukhiya (village head) of Raj Chakbahauuddin Gram Panchayat in Samastipur district while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh.
The action followed a complaint filed by Abdul Mannan, a resident of Dalsinghsarai police station area in Samastipur district, at the Vigilance Bureau office in Patna. The complainant alleged that Rai and the Panchayat Secretary had demanded a bribe in exchange for facilitating withdrawal of his suspension.
After receiving the complaint, the bureau conducted a verification exercise and found evidence supporting the allegation that a bribe had been demanded. Following confirmation of the charges, a formal case was registered and the vigilance team carried out a raid and caught Rai red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 1.20 lakh from the complainant at a cosmetics shop owned by Abdul Mannan near Gudri Pul in the Dalsinghsarai area.
