Srinagar, Aug 13 (UNI) Inspector General of Police Kashmir V K Birdi said a multi-tier security arrangement has been put in place for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day functions all across the Kashmir valley.
“As you know the functions regarding the Independence Day are undergoing and today in all districts of Kashmir valley full dress rehearsal and security rehearsal were undertaken. Multi-tier security arrangements have been put in place for the safe and smooth conduct of the functions," Birdi told media persons in Srinagar on Tuesday.
A full dress rehearsal of Independence Day function was held at Srinagar’s Bakshi stadium in Srinagar today amid unprecedented security arrangements put in place.
“Multi-tier security arrangements have also been put in place at the Bakshi Stadium, the venue of the main Independence function in Srinagar," IGP Birdi said.
He said adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the cultural and other programmes being held across all the districts of Kashmir on the Independence day also.
Birdi said that regularity security check posts have been erected at various places to ensure incident free Independence Day function in Srinagar and other districts of the valley.
Asked about the recent militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Birdi said that “such foolproof security arrangements are being put in place keeping in view the present situation."
Meanwhile, security forces in Srinagar today were seen randomly checking vehicles on various routes to ensure safe and incident free conduct of Independence Day celebrations.
