Multiple doctors' forums condemned Durgapur medical student rape, seek Supreme Court intervention

Kolkata, Oct 11 (UNI) Multiple doctors' forums, including the West Bengal Doctors Forum (WBDF) today condemned the alleged gang-rape of a 2nd year medical student from Odisha outside the campus last night of a private medical college and hospital in Durgapur and sought Supreme Court chief justice B R Gavai's intervention on the apex court mandated directive for formation of National Task Force to ensure security in the medical colleges.
The students at Durgapur medical college began an indefinite silent sit-in demonstration and gathered the principal to protest the alleged rape.
The BJP and CPI(M) also staged protest demonstrations outside the campus demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. The BJP also started a protest demonstration in the concerned police station demanding the arrest of those involved in the rape charges.
