Mumbai Police bust Rs10 cr Mephedrone network; five arrested in multi-location Raids

Mumbai, Aug 9 (UNI) In a major crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police claimed to have busted a larger mephedrone (MD) supply network in the city, arresting five people and seizing drugs worth Rs 10.07 crore in coordinated operations across Malad, Jogeshwari, Dadar, and Dongri.
According to ANC officials, the first breakthrough came on July 28, when the Ghatkopar Unit, while patrolling in Jogeshwari West, apprehended a suspect carrying 504 grams of MD. His associate was soon arrested, with 518 grams recovered from him. The twin arrests led to the seizure of narcotics worth Rs 2.55 crore.
On August 7, acting on a tip-off, the bandra uUnit raided Pathanwadi in Malad East and caught a man selling MD, recovering 766 grams valued at Rs 1.91 crore. In a separate operation the same day, the Worli Unit arrested another suspect in Dadar West with 690 grams of MD worth Rs1.72 crore.
