Nadda launches new AMR action plan amid warnings of growing antibiotic resistance

New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) Addressing the gaps identified in the first National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday launched the second version of the government’s plan to tackle the growing health crisis in the country.
Antimicrobial resistance, a condition in which pathogenic bacteria no longer respond to antibiotics, is known to claim millions of lives annually. \\
Last month, World Health Organization highlighted worrying trends. The UN agency, noted that one in six laboratory-confirmed bacterial infections are resistant to antibiotic treatments, calling for the medicines to be used more responsibly.
