NEP aims to replace Macaulay’s promoting colonial mindset, says Dharmendra Pradhan

Bhubaneswar, Sep 13 (UNI) union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said the education system introduced by T.B. Macaulay in India was designed to undermine the country and keep it subjugated for a long time.
In contrast, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the new National Education Policy (NEP) seeks to replace Macaulay’s promotion of the colonial mindset with an independent and confident Indian outlook, Pradhan said while addressing the 35th convocation of Sambalpur University at Burla.
“The holistic and multilingual education envisioned by great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, Maharshi Aurobindo, Madan Mohan Malaviya, and Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is now being realized through the NEP,” the union Minister added.
