New initiatives in agri sector to boost organic farming in J&K: ACS Dulloo

Jammu, Feb 8 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government is taking a big step towards supporting its farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture and with a growing concern for health and an increasing demand for organic food, the government is investing in a project that will boost organic food production and increase economic returns for farmers in the Union Territory, said Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Department on Wednesday.
Dulloo said that this is a part of the government's larger efforts to create a safer, cleaner and more sustainable environment for agriculture and food production in the region.
"The government has set aside a budget of Rs 84 crores to support the program over the next five years," he revealed adding that this initiative is part of a larger effort to promote sustainable agriculture, commercial agriculture, and healthy food production.
