Pune, Apr 17 (UNI) The Union government is drafting a new National Youth Policy as an extension of National Education Policy, in which more emphasis will be on fitness and sports, said Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, on Saturday.
Delivering a keynote address for a two-day international (virtual) conference on ‘Raising Resilient Youth: from University to Community’, organized on April 16-17 by Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Wellbeing, SIU in collaboration with Mpower here, he said, "We want to become a better Sporting Nation”. “Khelo India” is the initiative of Government of India where the University-level games are of world-class. The GoI has also launched a “Fit India Movement” where we expect the Universities of India to take a leadership role."
“When a person becomes physically and mentally fit then only he can become successful in all the aspects of life. Not only a sports person but every Indian should be fit," he said.
