Newlywed woman dies after allegedly being forced to consume poison

Koderma, Nov 10 (UNI) A newlywed woman died in Jharkhand's Koderma police station area on Monday, allegedly due to poisoning.
The victim’s family members and villagers staged a protest outside the Koderma police station, demanding the immediate arrest of her in-laws, whom they accused of murder and harassment over dowry.
According to reports, the deceased, Preeti Kumari, 21, was married to Sachindra Kumar on May 7, 2025. Her mother, Ambika Devi, stated that the family had given ₹7.5 lakh in cash and household items worth around ₹5 lakh at the time of marriage. However, soon after the wedding, the in-laws allegedly began demanding an additional ₹2 lakh as dowry and frequently assaulted her for non-compliance.
